Question:

I have a Dewalt DW 938 recip saw. How do I replace the output shaft? ?

I have it apart but the gear assembly is pressed together, and I do not see an easy way to get at the output shaft.

  1. Step 1: Discard DeWalt saw.

    Step 2: Buy a Milwakee/Rigid/Non Black&Decker saw


  2. If you lost your directions, google DEWALT and look for a service number. They may be able to email a schematic diagram to you.

    I had some really old Delta Rockwell's and needed archaic parts from the Jurassic period... They still had them available and all I had to do was order and wait.

  3. There should be a small black plastic cover in the front end, just on the break of the gear case, which can be pryed out and inside there's a nut, either 1/2" or 9/16", don't remember which, that has to be undone to release the wobble arm from the shaft.
