I did not know at the time I ordered, but found out that you need two tuners (the dvr522) to be able to tape a live show and another show that is playing at the same time. I only have one feed line from the dish do I need two, or can the one line be split. I am only going to use one TV. I called Dish and they want me to buy a DVR522 at $169 and charge me $5 a month. I like the Dish very much!!

  1. troyboy is right!!

We love dish also!   Being able to record movies events on one channel and watch another at the same time is very convient.

I hope this works for you.

  2. Yes you will need two feeds but the 522 should come with a DPP (Dish Pro Plus) seperator.  What you do is take your input you are currently using and s***w it into the input on the seperator.  You will now have the two outputs or feeds for the 522.

An installer should do all of these for you.

Keep in mind that the 522 is made for two televisions so you might want to hook up the second tuner to another tv.  The only problem with this is when you are recording something one of the tvs will have to watch what you are recording or watch something from the DVR memory.  You can still access all recordings from either tv.

  3. you need 2 feeds and it cant be split it has to come from the box at the dish
