I have a EFC score of 04083 from the FAFSA, what does that mean?

  1. NO.  The EFC is NOT how much you have to pay for school.  I  used to work for the FAFSA call center and we got this question EVERY other call.  The EFC is just a number the colleges used to determine your loan amount. Anything under 4110 is a good number.  The lower it is the more money you will get. If it is over 4110, you will not get a grant.


  2. It means that the school you attend will expect your family to contribute $4,083 to your education in the upcoming year. If your tuition and fees will cost more than that amount, then you should  receive some type of  financial aid to cover the rest. Basically, the lower your EFC number - the more financial aid you qualify for. Good LUck!!!
