Question:

I have a GIANT mosquito bite?

I have a giant mosquito bite under my arm. And I mean giant. I think I've had something similar to this a couple of years ago but I'm not really sure. The mosquito bite under my arm is about 2-3 and a half inches in length and width. It's all red and it's about a quarter inch deep. Is that bad? I remember scratching it a lot. I also heard that scratching a mosquito bite makes it bigger and also lets out histamine, something that makes the bite more itchy and painful. Yesterday my mom put Bacitracin on the bite, but it didn't help at all. Today I put Cortizone 10 on it which seemed to stop the itching a bit. I'm worried if it's infected or something. Could it just be swollen from all the scratching I did? Thanks in advance. =)

  1. if the bump has a peak or is shiny its probably an allergic reation and u should go to the doctor.(i used to get the same thing) it ould have been something else that bit you. If its tender to the touch and p**y its probably an infection. I suggest goung to the doctor anyway though if its really bothering you.

  2. put alcohol or peroxide on it. that will clean it and also stop the itching

  3. it is infected

  4. Put peanut butter on it.

  5. ive seen those before. itll go away on its own if u dont scratch it.

i have one right now and ive een scrtaching it all day and suddenly its huge.

hope this might help :) good luck ♥

  7. Depending on where the bite is and how much "fat" is there (I don't mean that in a bad way...read on), the bite could end up bigger.  I got a bite on my knee once when we were camping and it got pretty huge, however, the ones on my arm were smaller (more "fat" there than on my knee).

When did you get the bite?  And are you sure it's a mosquito bite?  Try real hard to not scratch it, put some Cortizone cream on (or whatever you find helps) and leave it be for awhile.  If the swelling doesn't go down soon, make a trip to the doctor's, just in case.

  8. it could be a horsefly bite, i've had one before and they look just like mosquito bites only bigger. if it's hot to touch and inflamed it might just be that. try a antihistamine cream to reduce the swelling and try your hardest not to scratch. calamine lotion works well to stop scratching.

    good luck

    and don't scratch!

  9. Do you think it might be a spider bite?  Those are usually a bit bigger...

  10. Lol don't scratch it, that's how it gets big, I had one big like that just don't scratch it, how i relieve the pain is to put steaming hot water on it, and then cold LOL it works but painful =]

but don't scratch it, unless you want it to grow it's own colony

  11. Yeah, it's definitely a possibility that you've just moved the mosquito spit around under your arm. Stop scratching, and let it work itself out on its own. You won't die.

  12. go 2 the docter

  13. I've never heard of a mosquito bite getting infected, a spider bite maybe? Those tend to be larger & more painful.

In any case, go see your general practicioner for advice if you are very concerned!

  14. yea maybe it was a misqito bite and u scartching too much, try to think about something else and then check if anything happens

  15. If that happens regularly, you might have an allergy to mosquitos. My son does. Our doctor say's to take Benadryl. That will help with keeping the swelling down. Wait a day or two and see if it calms down. If not, or if it gets worse see a doctor. There could be an infection.
