  1. It depends on your definition of the word "work".

The gps will give you your lat/lon coordinates, but if you don't have mapping software for the countries you visit, it won't give you anything more than current location and movement (usually an arrow).

Contact Garmin to see if they offer european maps for the countries you wish to visit.

  2. Yes it should work fine anywhere in the world, considering it's a GPS it should be able to track any latitute and longitude in the world.

  3. Well it depends on the GPS even if it is garmen some do some don't sorda hard to say sometimes they ar just cheap and sometimes not check instrutions and se if it said anytjing about that.

  4. You will need to go to the Garmin company site and download the maps/waypoint/information for the area of the world you are going to (this is a service authored by Jeppesen but sold for Garmin series GPSs, just like updating your IFR or VFR data base on any Garmin you fly here).

  5. Even my old garmin gps 55 would display nav information as long as you entered the correct airport id code. Just for fun I used to enter the code for one of the airports in moscow and it would display the nav info. I imagine the newer units do also. I've not tried it on my panel mounted gps.

  6. It really depends on which GPS model you purchased, all popular Garmin Nuvi units can be updated with European maps SD card if you do not currently own a Nuvi 270, 370 or 670 which includes EU maps.

Simply just call a Garmin authorized retail and or internet store and ask the sales person if your unit will accept a European map SD card.

Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc is authorized by Garmin to sell on line and as an authorized Garmin retailer, you can find Auto Nav at http://www.autonav2000.com/default.asp, you can buy a map SD card of EU from Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc directly http://www.autonav2000.com/mall/anProdDe...

There is a compatible list as to which Garmin GPS unit will work with this EU SD card.

If you only need one for a vacation, you should consider renting a GPS if your unit does not include Europe from GPS4Rent at http://gps4rent.com/products.php?categor...

  7. GPS receivers will work anywhere in the world, in terms of finding your latitude and longitude.  Those that contain maps need a database that includes your location, if you want them to actually show where you are on a map.
