  1. The only way to get higher resolution (1080i or 1080p) is to buy a new TV.

Not that you really need it.  Blu-ray will play fine on your TV - and will look better than normal DVDs.  Furthermore, most people can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p until you start talking about 50", 60" or larger screens.  Otherwise, 720p is just fine.

Other than blu-ray, just about everything else that's HD is only in 720p anyways.  You may find an ocassional thing that's in 1080i but for the most part, it's all 720p and that's not likely to change anytime soon.

  2. You can't increase the resolution of your Vizio. That's established when the set is manufactured.

But you can still play any DVD player, including Blue-Ray on it. It  just won't be showing all that the Blue-Ray is capable of.

That said, if the TV size is *only* 37 inches, then, unless you sit about 4 or 5 feet from the screen, you're unlikely to see much, if any, difference between 720 and 1080.

  3. No, sorry no adapter or anything - you have to get a 1080 tv to have 1080.  Blu ray does work with the 720p if the tv has an HDMI input (I'm sure it has 1), but it's not really worth the extra cost for just 720p.
