One is 1.66 GHZ and the other is 1.67 ghz. If I play a game that requires 2.5 ghz or so will I be able to play it?

  1. if it requires a single core at 2.5 then u probably can play that game.  not sayin that it will run perfect.

  2. Probably wont . COD 4 requires a 2.4 GHz P4 and a 1.8 Dual core. Thats only a 33% advantage for the dual.

Some say "you have a 3.32 cpu(2X1.66) but they need to study cpu architecture because thats not how it is. May want to try this. Hopefully the game is on the list:

Those little duals overclock really nice so you can try overclocking it a tad and see if it will pass then. I really suggest you forget about that game with that cpu thou. Too much game for it. Even if you can run it it wont be pretty.

  3. The game will mention the type of cpu. If the 2.5 Ghz is referring to a single core, then your processor will certainly be able to run it.

You could always try to use low settings first.

  4. yes you will, don't worry

  5. You can try. (but first go to my computer> system properties then look at the full processor speed.

I know that some people will have the thought 1.66+1.67= 3.33ghz.

No! The addition of two cores speeds does not equal the full processor speed.

  6. First of all, both of your cores are the same speed, even though 0.01Ghz doesn't really mean anything.  Second, 1.66 < 2.5 so the short answer is no.  Just because you have a dual core doesn't mean your CPU runs at 3.32 (1.66+1.66).  You have 2 separate cores running at 1.66Ghz each.  i guess you could try it but even if it loads up the game will run VERY poorly to the point that its not even worth your time.
