I have a JVC 32" tv. It whent black and Now the power light blinks and there is a ticking noise?

Is there a power unit that may be bad that I need to change. Or does any one know why it would be working perfectly then go blurry then black. Now it ticks when plugged in and the red power light blinks. Help please.

  1. Blurry then black....Hmm, sounds like your Horizontal Deflection circuit died on you..the blurry-ness is the KEY to isolating your problem.

    Not much in the TV set can cause blurryness....just the Horizontal Deflection circuit.

    The ticking noise is your power supply trying to send a pulse of energy to your Horizontal circuitry to see if the short is removed....since it ticks, it tells me you have a shorted Horizontal output transistor or your Flyback could be shorted to ground also....

    The transistor is MORE LIKELY the problem than the flyback transformer is......

    And YES TECHS....I know IHVT is the proper term for the flyback....But it's just a bunch of cryptographic letters to the general populace....Transformer is something everyone knows.
