It sits on a base that is a round wooden pedistal. It feels very unstable when you initially sit, because it weebles and you feel like you're going to fall over. It's between 10 and 15 years old, but it looks like no one ever sat it in. I don't want it to recline or swivel at all. Can I remove the wooden base and have it sit flush to the floor?

  1. Sure you can.  Turn it upside down and look for some tell-tale bolts that you might remove to disassemble the swivel base.  I would replace the bolts after removing the base, in case they attach other parts of the chair.

I'm sure there are various ways these recliners have been assembled throughout the years, but I just checked mine, and it looks feasible...

    Good Luck!
