Interference from other Wireless Access Point can cause low signal strength

Try changing the Channel of the Access Point to one that is less frequently used

Use NetStumbler (google download) to detect all the other access points are using and determine unused channels

This can be done by resetting the wirless router through a few simple steps through the computer/the linksys website.
