I have a Loitech Webcam

I have a Loitech Webcam 3000. It is installed (previously) and plugged into a USB port. I cannot figure out how to turn the webcam on. It had a black button on the top, but nothing happens when I push on it. The light does not come on (red light on camera) and my Logitech Camera Control folder does not appear to see the camera. What should I do? I am on a Macintosh computer with 10.4.11 system.Jim
