  1. Go buy a jug of Ortho Home Defense Max and spray all around your building and any possible places they're entering your home from, such as windows, door frames and vents.

Then spray around the edges of all the rooms in the house. If you have pets, try to keep them away from the fresh spray on the edges for at least 10-15 minutes.

Lastly, buy a box or two of Hot Shot Foggers (In the green box; there's a blue box of No-Mess Foggers, but they're slightly more expensive if you're willing to pay a few dollars more) and set one on a covered surface in the center of each room of your home. Open all possible closets and cabinets, remove all of the opened food in the house, take any pets with you and leave the house for around three hours.

Come back and let the house air out for 30 minutes minimum. I recommend at least 45 minutes to an hour to allow the spray to vent out.

You should then be ant-free. If they return, call an exterminator.

  2. I haven't personally had this problem, but i think that the have this ant killing gel, that is sorta clear and is like toothpaste, but I know that they're attracted to them, and when they eat it, they die. Otherwise, call the ORKIN man!

  3. You can put dish soap (I use Palmolive Antibacterial) in and around the crevices where the ants are getting in. This should essentially create a barrier that they can't cross (soap seems to be lethal to them somehow), and they will eventually starve. This is a good solution especially since dish soap is non-toxic to humans or pets and it is easy to clean-up.

After you are sure that the ants are gone, wash the soap up with a rag and apply caulking to the crevices and there ya go!

    Hope this was helpful.

  4. depends on what type of ant.  large black ones are carpenter ants, for them call a pro, they are eating your house, for small black ant, sugar ants, it is easy.  ants follow a chemical trail to find home and food.  take raw lemon that you buy in the grocery store in a plastic lemon looking container and squirt it around the base of your house in corners nooks and crannies where they can come in.  the acid in the lemon juice messes up their ability to find their way around.  if you can find the colony, spray some there too, or keep digging it up, they will get the message and leave.  if they are fire ants, i suggest a blow torch lol sorry that was bad of me.  good luck

  5. We used to have a problem with them and we just sprinkled some Cayenne pepper to block their paths.  Seems to have worked, at least on those really tiny ants.  It didn't necessarily get the ones we had inside.  Did more frequent Chlorox Cleanup cleanings on most surfaces.  Neighbors recommended the pepper since it seems to be a common problem in the area.

    ** Edit **

Foggers weren't an option with us as we have pets (55 gallon marine aquarium, 30 gallon freshwater, dog, multiple guinea pigs, and a hamster).
