I have high speed already and some person called from telus and said for 5 dollars more that we could get the extra high speed. I dont notice any difference. I have a Mac OSX with a 56 K modem.

  1. you would be better off getting broadband ie DSL or cable or otherwise.

  2. You'll never get a faster connection than your modem can handle. So it doesn't matter if you have a 2Mb/s line if you only have a 56k modem.

  3. Yea it's all B.S.  The speed your promised is the "up to" number.  Like, buy high speed now and get "up to" 2MBps!!!  Blah blah blah....

  4. When I was on dialup I had two ISPs. In both cases, I tried, for awhile, their "high speed boost" options. No luck. I think it is hype. I still maxed out, most of the time, at 49K, and still dropped down to 26K at times. (And still, the limitations on file size and emails per send.)

We bit the bullet and switched to DSL. Yawn. Seems they have us over a barrel these days.
