I have a Magnavox TV and Direct TV. Will external speaker work if attached to either component? Power needed?

I have connected the speakers. No sound. Would I need powered speakers? I want to hear the XM feed on my patio.

  1. You will need a reciever.  Satalite boxes and televisions do not have connections for external speakers in all but a few rare cases.

    You can connect your satalite box to a reciever, which will decode and amplify the signal for your speakers.
