I have a Michigan driver's license, and need to get a California driver's license. How do I do that?

Do I have to take a new test or can I just transfer it somehow?

Go to your local California DMV or call.

Do you now live in Calif. If you don`t going there won`t help you.It helps to also get you car license changed to Calif. If you are only going to be there for a short time you can drive with your Michigan License  as long as you have car Ins.You left some things out of your question.

You cannot transfer a drivers license from one state to another.  You must go to the California Department of Motor Vehicles and take all the tests and obtain your license the old fashioned way.  Be sure to take your birth certificate, your Michigan license and possibly your social security card or passport for identification.  Oh yes, and your checkbook!
