and would like to get a motorcycle and get a license down there. I need to learn how to ride first, I don't know anybody with a bike down there. Also I am selling my car, so I won't need a different drivers license for down there, only a motorcycle one. Where can I go to learn how to ride, I need a bike to learn on, and how do I take the road test without a bike?

  1. Florida State approved MSF courses supply all your needs.

Learning, Written and driving tests, and the actual motorcycle to ride and they do the actual test.  You take a form to the DMV.

  2. You cannot have 2 license from 2 different states (even if one is a CAR license and the other is a motorcycle license).  The first thing you need to do when you  arrive in Florida is to transfer your license to Florida.

Then go on to getting your permit.

Most states have MSF (motorcycle safety foundation) or a version of it where you take the course and you get your license AUTOMATICALLY when you finish the course.

Check Florida DMV for MSF link - or trying googling Florida MSF.

here's one I found just by googling:

    there are more on google.

    Good Luck...

  3. You will have to turn in your NYS license in order to get a Florida license (once you move here, you have 30 days to get a local license)  and you will get a citation if you don't do it - and then you can get a motorcycle endorsement on your Florida license.  Be aware that there is a 3 day class requirement before you can take the motorcycle test here in Florida.  It's a new law and causing a big fuss down here.
