  1. Practice, first in front of a mirror with yourself...then with others, people you know.  Do it exactly as you plan to do the real presentation.  Do it several times.  When you do it for real, look to the back of the room, try to remember your friends faces there.  Stay away from caffeine before the presentation, get rest.....suck peppermints....You will get better the more you do it!  Good luck!  (college psych professor)

  2. relax. think about clouds. It seems like you're afraid of failing--which is not the worst thing that can ever happen.

Maybe getting super embarrassed after a flubbed presentation will help you realize it's all in your head...no need to get upset or flustered.

EDIT: Also, I've found that smoking a little marijuana is an excellent way to regain your perspective and confidence because it squashes unsubstantiated fears in public situations while still allowing you to think fluidly.

  3. It public speaking classes the first thing they train you to do is imagine you are alone in the room, or maybe just with 1 other person. Once you find that mindset you wont have trouble public speaking again. Try making eye contact with just one or two people in the room, lock in on them and sometimes the rest of the crowd seems to filter away.

  4. Try to realize that fear of public speaking is among the most common fears. 90% of your audience is terrified of public speaking.

Don't try to cover with make-up; as you realize, it doesn't work.

You can't prevent yourself from going red. Just ignore it and give your presentation.

The only thing you can do is to be really well-prepared.

And, when you give your presentation, focus on one member of the audience who seems to be paying attention to what you're saying. Say the next few sentences to that person, as though you were just talking to them.

Then scan the room and find another person to tell the next few sentences, and so on.

When you focus your attention on communicating what you have to say to individuals who are listening, you'll have less attention available to worry about blushing. When you start worrying about it, just refocus on what you need to say next.

  5. I used to but I eventually just got used to public speaking by doing it a lot. Not much you can do besides knowing your stuff and being comfortable with what you're talking about. After you've done that, what also helps is realizing that no one really cares about how your presentation goes, most of them probably aren't even listening, and it's not that big of a deal.

  6. It sounds like you could have anxiety, consult your doctor.

If you do have anxiety you can get prescribed meds like valium which help ALOT especially in public speaking presentations.

I had a headache once in high school and my mom gave me a valium before school, I had a speech to give first period and im usually pretty nervous during speeches too but that day it was the easiest thing ive ever done! no nervousness whatsoever, again consult your doctor and see what works for you
