  1. There are many games of poker where you receive 5 cards and then discard what you don,t want. However you must set the rules before you begin. Like you can play 5 card poker which you give each player and no draw. so on and so on. Now on to what is a Royal Flush? It is any suit where you have the A, K, Q, J, 10, of the the same suit in your hand that is a Royal Flush and I wish I could get this hand once in my life. HAHA

  2. There are many different types of poker. Your father taught you 5-card draw, which is probably the most common for people to play at home (or at least was, until Hold'em became the type of poker we now see on TV).

Casino poker is usually No Limit Hold'em, in which players get two face-down cards (called hole cards) and then share the cards that are dealt face-up (called board cards). Once all five cards are dealt face-up, each player makes their best 5-card hand. They can use one, two or neither of their hole cards to make their best 5-card hand.

Hold'em, aka Texas Hold'em, has become the dominant form of poker because of television and the fact that it is easy to learn, but hard to master.

Other popular forms of poker include 7 Card Stud and Omaha.

A Royal Flush is simply any flush with cards Ten through Ace. The suit doesn't matter. However, in the very unlikely event that two players have a royal flush (which is impossible in Hold'em but possible in 5-Card Draw), the royal flush of the better suit wins. The ranking of suits from highest to lowest is Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs, which coincidentally is reverse alphabetical order (making it a bit easier to remember the order). So, the best possible Royal Flush is Ace through Ten of Spades.

  3. i love how u say "i know the rest" when u clearly have no clue

"like is it the spades?" thats funny!

last thing poker needs is another donkey

  4. the game you father thought you is called 5 card draw...      the one on TV is called Hold'em...    and the rules of play are different...

in hold'em, each player gets two cards....   in the center 5 cards are drawn...   from those 5 plus your two...  you have to come up with the best 5 hand combination...

to learn more about hold'em come play for free at Full Tilt

  5. Sounds like your father taught you to play draw poker. They play a version of draw poker at the WSOP, but most of the events are either holdem, stud or Omaha. The best way to learn poker is to actually play. You can play for free on Full Tilt Poker. It's a great site. You can also find out the rules to each game on their site.

You might wanna also pick up a book. Something for beginners, like Poker4Dummies or Phil Hellmuth's book Play Poker Like the Pros. That book will teach you about al the games.

You clearly don't know much about poker, but that's alright. Everyone has to start somewhere. Poker is a harder game than you think, but that's what makes it so fun and rewarding. gl.

  6. Actually, poker needs more donkey's to pay the rake and to allow the good players to win more money.
