I have a SE racing BMx bike with no breaks and its fast as h**l?

would it work if i put mountain bike breaks on it? just wondering

  1. You are talking about brakes for stopping?  Mountain type brakes need pivot posts on the seat stays and/or front forks.  BMX bicycles usually have a different set-up, you will have to figure out how the bicycle was designed and install the appropriate brake arms and levers.  Look for a local Fuji Bicycle dealer for information or look for Fuji American (they own SE Racing) on the web, and call them during business hours they should be able to tell you what you need to make it work.


  2. it should work but you have to remember that their are two kinds of mountain bike breaks, they're are disc breaks and probably would take a long time to install and they are pretty heavy, anywhere from 5- 10 lbs for a good setup but they also provide more stopping power. Your second option is to install a rim brake. Rim brakes are common on all kinds of bikes and they work really well, they're cheap and your SE should have mounts or holes to put mounts onto your bike with simple tools
