I have a SONY bravia LCD TV .WHITE SMEARS on switching the TV ?

My tv have a lot of finger prints and smudges . I have read the cleaning instructions in the manual . It says to use a soft cloth slightly moistened in a diluted mild detergent .I just follow them. I use the cloth that come with my glasses as it is very soft and apply a tiny bit of tap water and cleans the dirty portion . But after cleaning it leaves WHITE SMEARS/marks on the screen .How can I fix this prob ? Any suggestions are highly appreciated . Plz suggest me some measures that will remove white smears. Plzzzzzzzzz help me?

There is a sealed pack dampen paper cloth for cleaning eye glasses. It can be bought from the optical shops. Or at the computer shops, they sell the same for cleaning laptop monitors. Detergents may not be good for monitors.
