It doesn't bother me that I can't see my screensaver, but when I'm watching videos or movies on my computer my monitor keeps going to sleep is there anyway to make it stop?

  1. Look at the monitor setting in Control Panel, Power, and the screen saver in Control Panel, Power, Screen Saver tab.  The monitor number is probably lower than the screen saver.  (For example: turn off monitor in 15 minutes, start screen saver in 20 minutes.)

(My answer assumes you're using Windows.)

When you're watching movies turn off those 2 settings.  You don't have to turn off the other settings, the computer won't sleep/standby while it's running a movie and won't turn off the hard drive if it needs the drive for the movie.

  2. Click on the power icon in control panel and set every thing to never instead of 15 minutes.

  3. Go into the display, through the control panel and adjust the settings so that your cpu and monitor never go to sleep.
