The dvd player also has a usb slot. When I play a dvd, the picture turns slightly snowy, not the image you expect from a hd tv. I had been using a scart lead and bought a hdmi cable today but no improvement. any suggestions?

  1. change the dvd output to 480P

try to lower the contrast setting in the tv

    goodluck

  2. Quite simply, are you playing an HD DVD or a regular DVD? Also, is there a setting in your HD DVD player's menu to change the output to High Definition?

Do remember you only get a HD signal from an HD DVD player if you're playing an HD DVD (not a normal DVD). Which to be honest are becoming quite rare seeing as Blu-Ray's are blowing them out the water.
