no extra plug in the back - just the three for my dvd/tape player and the round one for the antenna

and since I don't have cable or dish ( to expencive ) - guess I need to go the converter route

  1. Well Samtron NEVER built HDTV sets....so you will need to get the converter box for your TV set...

You ever wonder if Samtron was trying to sucker punch people?

I mean, Samtron and Samsung looks similar, and I'll bet hundreds of people THOUGHT they were buying a Samsung at a really good price.....and that Chinese company just laughed all the way to the bank....

  2. Unfortunately Samtron doesn't appear to have a web presence anymore..their website takes me right to samsung which doesn't list a SAM2470 TV anywhere...I can't even find it googling.

It's likely that if it has a digital setting, then it's got the digital tuner already in it. On the back (of some), you'll see a separate digital coax connection..on some, it's an all-in-one integrated tuner. You really should consult your manual (if you still have it) about this. But it sounds like it's got the digital tuner built in. If it does have an extra antenna connection that says digital...then all you need to do is hook an antenna (or you can sometimes split your cable signal before the box and feed it in).
