I have a Sandisk Sansa e260 and wondering if a new battery will help?

my sandisk's battery got screwed up when i plugged it in to the wrong charger on accident. i didn't fry the whole unit because the screen still comes up and if you plug in the microSD it plays fine. when i try to charge (or connect it to computer) the thing goes crazy with dual startup screens that look like what happens when you watch a TV screen too close. WOULD getting a new battery make the player work again? thanks

  1. Sounds like you *most likely* damaged your Sansa, but if you want to try a battery the e260 is pretty easy to take apart.  I've seen batts listed on Ebay for only $10 (or less), so it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

If that doesn't work, you're only out $10.  You might even find a good used e260 or better while you're cruising for the new battery on the 'bay.
