will I be able to recieve Freeview channels? I should add, that the Sky box is unconnected in the loft. And I don't fancy going to the trouble of bringing it down, if I can't get reception.

  1. it will work but you may need to buy a viewing card of sky for the freeview, think its only £20.

  2. well, it should work. When I moved to the house I'm currently renting here in Dublin, I brought my Sky Dish and digibox (I was a subscriber between 2004 and 2005. I plugged the dish in the digibox and it gave me BBC 1, 2 Sky News, ITV, CNN, Euronews, among all "useless stuff for sale", religious and ethnic channels. Eventually I got myself a card from www.freesatfromsky.com for £20, and that gave me most of the other channels: ITV 2, 3, BBC 3,4, Sky 3 (NOT Sky One), all UK BBC regional channels, BBC radios, Channel 4, 4+1, etc. Good value. You can also have the same for £150 if you want a new dish + digibox.

  3. Yes don't see why not unless you'r box is broken

  4. If the sky box is years old the software will not work. The box will provide you with some channels but only a small handfull.

I had an old box and gave it to a mate to try but because it was 3 years old all software was old and the box is scrap.

Best option is the Freesat system for £150.

  5. I dont know you may need a viewing card but you would not be able to pick up freeview beacause the dish picks up siganals from a saterlite.

  6. Yes, I have one box upstairs and one downstairs, I don't subscribe to Sky and can watch them both independently of each other. I put a splitter on my cable coming from the dish!! Why pay when you can get the freebies!!

    xx
