I have a Sony Camcorder w/ HD , AVCHD format and creates .m2ts files. How do I merge several short clips?

I want to be able to merge several short clips in to one and give it a title. I actually have over 170 clips that I need to combine into 6 to 8 short films and burn a DVD.

  1. Use a video editor in your PC that can deal with AVCHD compressed video.

    Macintosh: Apple iMovieHD budled with iLife08 or the most current versions of FinalCut (Express or Pro2).

    Windows: Sony Vegas Platinum. Microsoft MovieMaker cannot deal with AVCHD compressed video.

    Once the video is in your computer - and in the editor, that is where you "combine" the clips... once that video project work is done, then that video will go through a DVD authoring application (Mac: iDVD; Windows: WinDVD) and that will burn the DVD - presuming your computer is equipped with a DVD drive capable of burning DVDs...
