Question:

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-S45. Does anyone know where, besides Sony, I can get a usb cable for it?

I called Sony and they told me it would be $28 +, yet I can find other usb cables for a few bucks. These other cables do not list this particular model as compatible, yet they list several other Sony Cybershot models. I just want a cheap replacement usb cable so that I can continue using the camera. I do not have a memory stick, but if someone knew of an inexpensive one that would enable me to download the photos without a usb cable, I'd be interested. Thank you to anyone who replies.

  1. This shouldn't be difficult to find... try Best Buy, Circuit City, Wolf/Ritz, etc. Just ask the clerk and they can help you.

  2. You can use any USB cable as long as the connectors fit.  If you have a USB cable for some other device (like your cell phone maybe), see it it fits into your camera, then it will work.  Else buy the cheapest one you can find.

  3. usb camera cords are pretty generic. You don't have to use the sony brand.

  4. No, if you don't have a card, and the pictures are directly on the camera, your only way is to buy another usb cable. Try Radioshack or a local electronics store.

However, if you DO have a card, I only paid $10 for my card reader. It's got a usb part and a part where you put the card in. It's the size of a keychain, and is much faster at uploading than using software and a cord.

mine is green, but you get the idea:
