  1. The Sony DCR-TRV130 is a digital8 camcorder. It connects to your computer just like a miniDV tape based camcorder - with a firewire cable (not USB).

The DV - firewire - port on the camcorder connects to the firewire port on the computer. If you computer does not have a firewire port, hopefully yis has an available expansion slot... or if a Macintosh, they have had a firewire 400 port for about 10 years. The only exception is the new MacBook Air.

The camcorder's DV port is always a 4-pin firewire jack. Whether your computer has a 4-pin or 6-pin is unknown, unless you are in the Mac environment, in which case we know the firewire 400 port is 6-pin... hence a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable is required.

  2. The DCR-TRV130 doesn't have Firewire, so you'll need a newer camcorder to do that.
