Do I have to purchase it separately? I got it like 6 months ago to upload videos on Youtube, but it never came with a USB connector? I have the kind that records the footage on the tapes, but I know there is a way to get it on to the computer. Can someone please help me!?

What should I do?

  1. Your not supposed to have a USB cord to connect it. It's a camcorder a USB connection would be too slow to capture the footage. What you would have to do is purchase a capturing card that fits your computer best as well as a fire wire (this is the type of connection you need to be able to transfer. With this you will also need a program that you can use to capture . I would also recommend a big hard drive because video files straight from tapes are extremely large.

  2. If your camcorder does not support USB connection, it means it is an analogue camera. You need to buy a video capture card to copy your videos onto a PC. External capture cards are pretty expensive.

  3. as you said you got it 6 months ago, it definitely have a connection to PC. But you need to check it to make sure it is not a analog type such as 8mm or Hi8 etc. if it is, then you must think about getting video capture cards such as a Tv Tuner etc. on the other case you need to get your manual and look how does it describes the connection to PC. There is another type of cable similar to USB, which is FIREWIRE cable or IEEE1394 Cable, you need to make sure which one is required to get for your camcorder for the connection with PC. If you have mentioned the model of your camcorder we could have get you a better answer.
