  1. You will have to 'finalise' the mini DVD first - your camera manual will tell you how to do that - but you should note that once a DVD is finalised you cannot record any more video on it.

    then try it this way

Use a programme called Ulead VideoStudio - you take the mini-disc out of your camcorder and put it into the DVD tray of your PC making sure it sits centrally in the little depression made for it.

Inside VideoStudio you select "Insert DVD" and point the programme at the DVD and follow the prompts and the video is copied from the disc into the timeline of VideoStudio so that you can edit it - add lots of different videos together - add titles/music/narration - make a file that you can e-mail or upload to 'Youtube' etc. and finally burn to a full size DVD to play in a standard player.

Full details and a one month free trial of VideoStudio from :-

  2. If your computer has a drawer loading DVD drive, then put the disc in there - Rip the video using HandBrake.

If your computer has a slot loading optical drive OR if the optical drive can handle only CDs (and not DVDs), then you will need to use an "analog/digital bridge":

If your computer only has USB:

If your computer has firewire (IEEE1384a, i.Link):

    http://canopus.com/products/videoconvers...

Typically, the USB port is used only for moving stills from a memory card (if your camcorder is equipped for that) or perhaps using the camcorder for web-streaming (if it has that feature - most cams don't).

Alert: Video quality from DVD based camcorders is terrible.

  3. There is a good chance you will have to buy a "Firewire" (IE1394) cable and possibly Firewire card (IE1394 net card adapter) to plug in your computer.  This is no big deal and any retail electronics shop can get all you need.  Less than $100, then import, edit, even control the camera from your computer.

    Good Luck

  4. Have you  tried using  the usb if thats the (connecting cord ) if that doesnt work maybe you should try looking it up on soney.com or try visiting a bestbuy or raidio shack I know either place you might have not bought your handy cam from it but I am positive the pelple should give you a lending hand :)
