I have a Sony Handycam digital video camera, and i don't know how to upload videos from my camera...

i have the plug that connects the camera to the computer, and i have the software and everything. i don't need to know how to edit. All i want to know, is once I have the camera plugged into the computer, how i get the videos on the camera, onto the computer.

  1. ALL Sony consumer camcorders are "HandyCam".

    MiniDV tape uses firewire (IEEE1394a, DV, i.LINK are all the same thing). Add a firewire port to your computer if it does not have one - and has an expansion slot. Camera is in "VCR" or "Play" mode, "Capture using MovieMaker or Import using iMovie.

    Hard drive and flash memory uses USB. It will mount like any other mass storage device; copy the video files to the computer hard drive. Macintosh will need StreamClip to convert the highly compressed MPEG2 video files.

    DVD based needs a drawer loafinDVD drive on the computer. Rip the video using HandBrake

    Then bring in to the video edito of your choice.

    Analog video requires an analog digital bridge or video card.

    You did not tell us the camcorder, your computer or any other detail that would help - this is about as far as we can go.
