My TV was full of smudges .dust etc. So I read cleaning instructions i the manual which says to use a soft cloth slightly moistened in a mild detergent in case it doesnot go away by soft cloth. I use the cloth that come with my glasses and a tiny amount of tap water and wipe very gently the dirty portion and then take another cloth to dry it. Now the problem is that the screen is crystal clear when it is off but when I switch it on it shows a white smear/spot in that area due to the dissolved salts present in tap water which I donot know previously. Apple

and the sony manual says to use water only but it didnot give any specifications about which water to use. I just follow the sony manual. Is there any cleaning kit which will fix this problem? Any kit which will remove/minimise the white spot caused due the dissolved minerals present in tap water ? Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. Dissolved salts are not your problem! Dissolved salts would have left a white powder on the screen's surface, after it had dried, and this powder would wipe off easily. You could also see this on the screen while the TV is off. I think that you either rubbed to hard, bursting your LCD pixels or the detergent you used was abrasive or chemically reacted with the plastic screen. This highlights one of the major disadvantages of all LCD TVs; their soft plastic screens are fragile and are easily subjected to scratches or damage from low impact accidents. You are more than likely going to need to replace the LCD screen or get a new TV. Contact the manufacturer under your warranty for their expert advice. Good luck.
