I have a TOM TOM XL ONE it does not annonce the street number or street name it just says turn left or turn rt

yes, that's what mine does.

they have a new one that has 'spoken street names'  they state that in the commercial.  it costs a lot more because they have to program the thing with all the street names in the countries it has maps for.  some of them aren't pronounced like they are spelled.
