  1. Besides the usual things like softer acceleration, keeping your air filter clean, tune up, go to the lightest weight engine oil (like a 5-30) or better yet- a 5-30 synthetics oil.  Keep your tires inflated and use the skinniest profile tire (like a 75-80 series profile).  If there is a P in the tire size (P225-75R 15) that is a passenger tire that is designed for more air and less rolling resistance.  One thng that I also did was to put the tallest tires possible on my car- in essense making the gears taller like an overdrive.  But the negative side to that is you need to remember that your speedometer will now read slow (mine is 10% off now) and so will your odometer which will make you think that your mileage dropped.  But I know that it works as my weekly gas bill dropped noticeably.

  2. Keep your maintenance up. That's #1.

A freer flowing exhaust/intake should help  a little, good plugs a little more.

But in reality, the greatest help you'll get is from common sense. Don't drive unecessarily, plan your trips as efficiently as possible, and lighten up on your foot when it coes to the acceleratior. There are no magic solutions, so don't expect one.

  3. Don't be a lead foot be light on accelerator peddle , Get a a good set of exhaust headers and duel 2.5'' exhaust with straight through mufflers.

Keep up maintenance's good spark plugs and leads .

    Clean carburettor or injection system.

    keep tyre inflated recommended pressure.

Get a good air cleaner and keep it clean.

Possibly look at raising compression ratio (in ceases thermal efficiency ) and re curving distributor.

  4. when you accelerate, try not to practicaly floor it. i have an astro van with the high top and its a v6 but yea i am driving with a lighter foot lately

  5. Make sure your tires are at the manufacturers suggested pressure. A new air filter helps. Check your plugs and plug wires, if they look worn then replace them. High octane fuel will give better mileage. Octane boost fuel additive will help somewhat. How you drive has everything to do with mileage just as what you drive does. Pretend there is an egg between your foot and the gas pedal.
