I'm not trying to sell them or give them out. My kids want them on DVD - so I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to do this

  1. You can't. VCR tapes are protected by Macrovision.

To tell the truth, it is not worth transfering. Just buy a used DVD of the movie from a local video store.

  2. Hi Peptoe,

You can legally back up your own tapes but to do it you have to bypass the copy guard.

To bypass the copy guard you need a device like You will have to get a device like "Sima T120 GoDVD". It removes the copy guard and enhances the picture. You plug your source into it and plug it into the input of your recorder.

Here is an example of one - http://www.heartlandamerica.com/browse/i...

Another one that will work is the Digital Video Stabilizer.  It works like a charm and is only $25. Go here to read about and see an example - http://www.qualitekindustries.com/vidsta...

  3. This is what you need.

These devices have to go between the VCR output and the DVD input.
