I have a VERY VERY pregnant Sword Tail, When will she give birth?

I have a very pregnant Sword Tail. She has a huge pale red gravid spot with lots of tiny black dots inside it. She looks very fat. She also pauses for around 30 seconds and leans towards her tail area and her fins go down and she looks like she is pushing. I even saw a white sting come out of her once. That was just an hour ago. She also swims an inch then stops, and does this a few times. Also she is squared off. A few days ago I took her out of the main tank (20 gallons) and put her in a 3 gallon tank with some floating plants and one big plantin it. When will she give birth? How many fry do you think she will have?

She will probably give birth within a few days. Many factors can go into when a fish gives birth. For example, if she is startled, she might give birth prematurely. Just give her shelter (as you have), and just wait for a few days. The average swordtail has about 100 fry when giving birth. Remember, though, that poecilids can store sperm, so she might eventually become pregnant again even if she is seperated from male swordtails.
