Question:

I have a Whirlpool Gas Oven that will not stay lit once the door is closed.?

If the door is left cracked open, it works fine, stays lit and heats up. If we closer the door, it goes out and does not relight. Same things happens with the broil option. With this one - you can see the flame (starting at the back of the oven) start to go out . Then it carries all the way to the front until the whole things is out.

Leaving the door open fixes this - you can see the flame working fine. Adjusting the air on both the broiler and oven have done a little, but nothing has fixed it. Any help?

  1. There is a small fan which runs whenever the burner is on. It is usually located behind the oven, and blows air into the oven section. You are simply running out of oxygen , and the flame goes out.

  2. get a gas technician out  ASAP ..THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS .it sounds as if there is an oxygen deficiency..
