I have a Z30Q SAmsung VCD player...can I play a Xvid file copied to a CompactDisk?

I mean CD and not DVD.

Can I copy the Xvid file to a CD and play it in my VCD player?

You might have to encode it to VCD.

DVD players that read xvid/ divx are pre encoded to do so so they can outside of the PC environment." no extra codecs needed" no encoding, just load it up like a data disk and burn it..

for VCD I'm not so sure, encoding to vcd format ensures that everything the video needs to play is with it on the disk.
