I have had the cat for a few days and she is very snuggly and loves attention. However, she has started to hid under the bed for hours at a time. I am worried about this behavior, also in terms of making sure she eats and drinks enough.

  1. And as long as the cat eats something, I would say it is fine. Don't compare it to what you need to eat each day. And my guess is that over time the shyness will go away.

  2. thats very normal. ive had 3 cats, and they explore their new surroundings a little then hide. its a cycle and should end soon.

  3. It might be as simple as she has decided that under the bed is a good place to nap. But if it worries you, find out what has changed.

Is there a new critter in the neighborhood? Has something changed in your perfume or cologne, if you use either? Are you under stress, and so behaving differently?

As for the food and water- Just leave a bowl of clean water down for her all the time: She'll drink enough. And she'll eat enough if the food is put down at regular times.

If she behaves like she is uncoordinated or in pain, then take her to the vet.

    Good luck!

  4. The best thing to do is just leave the kitty be she will come out when she gets ready dont worry about food or drink when she gets hungry or thirsty she will come out, alot of times you think they are adjusted and well this happens alot of times cats just want to be by themselves I have had my kitty for over a year we just moved and he had to adjust all over again and it took almost 2 weeks....just be patient with her she will come around....I promise...
