I have a adult ball python!

i have a ball python it is a adult one,i tried to feed it after the first week i had it,but it wont eat i called the store where i got it they told me to wait another week,well its been about 2 weeks and i got one today and still is not eating nothing,im feeding it normal rats that are white,can anyone tell me what might be wrong with my snake.thanks

  1. Do you have the proper environment for it? The right heat, humidity, substrate, hides and so forth? If not it can stress the animal out and it won't want to eat.


  2. Ball pythons are known to fast sometimes, so its behavior is not at all unusual. Adult ball pythons can go months without eating and are perfectly fine, so don't get too excited. Sometimes, the problem is that you are giving them the wrong foods that they want. Try black rats or other variations. Eventually it will eat, so the important thing to remember is to keep trying and don't give up. Also be sure that the rats are the correct temp, as this can matter a lot to a snake.

  3. i believe you mentioned buying your Ball python from a store, thats your problem.
