... and yesterday when my boyfriend was driving it he must have knocked it out, so needless to say it wouldn't start when we got back in to go home. All my friends thought it was the starter (they didn't know i had this chip) so after tapping on the starter and no success on my car starting, they decided to pop start it (it's stick) AND IT WORKED!!! Is my anti theft system defected or does that happen to all cars with this? becuase it really doesn't seem that reliable at this point!!!

Sorry for this question being so long = [

  1. No it is not your anti-thief because you would not be able to start it this way or anyway, it would help to know the year, make and model as well............................

  2. Your cars owners manual should tell you about this sort of stuff but you can always go directly and speak to a dealership customer service rep and ask them to explain the system to you fully. Or call the main hot-line for customer service and ask them be sure to have the ownership handy.

If you've a anti theft chip I'd highly suspect that is inside of the key.

Before they just used certain cuts to make a key and then those grooves would meet the car's door lock cylinders and wham by turning the key the door opens or the ignition turns.

Then they decided to make grooves in the keys like bumps and now those had to match up in the cylinder's, then they added a chip inside the key so now theres not just bumps or grooves there is an electro magnetic signal that has to match.

So in your case the car's anti-theft feature is working bec the car's ignition is indeed matching up the bumps or grooves but maybe not picking up the electro-magnet signal from the key. i believe your vehicles ignition is allowing the car to be started by pop starting the vehicle but only bec these grooves or bumps matched up so half the anti-theft system is actually in the safe mode.

Hope that helps and best of luck....aren't computers and electronics in cars making it so wonderful lol

  3. Well is there a chip in your key ??? You didnt mention the type of vehicle. These keys can go bad and there not cheap to replace.... About 60 bucks or more....
