  1. normally newborn birds of any kind are weak and they look helpless. just give it plenty of water and try giving it fresh fruits not just bird/chic food. good luck.

  2. You didn't say what kind of bird, but all baby birds are a little weak at first.

Some are much more fragile than others.  A duckling will be eating on its own in a day.  A baby cockatiel will be helpless for a month.

Do some research and keep the bird at the exactly right temperature and humidity.  Feed it as often as necessary (around the clock maybe, depending on species.)

Mostly, you probably just need to be patient.  Be sure to leave the cover on the incubator/brooder to avoid drafts.

  3. Unfortunately there are some chicks that just do go. They hatch and just can't get it together. I just received 18 polish chicks from Cackle Hatchery. There is one little blue chick that has been feeble since day one. I have repeatedly dipped it's beak in the water. The little guy just isn't going to make it. Sometimes there is more to it than what you want. There isn't anything you can do for this guy.

Sometimes if the temps are too high, or too low it causes developmental problems in their internal organs. It has to want to live before anything can

    be done.

  4. what kind of bird is it, that might help you get a better answer.
