I have swimmer's ear along with extreme wax build up. I've been to the doctor and I was given antibiotic ear drops. I'm supposed to take them 4 times a day for 10 days, then use an ear wax softener for 4 days. Then on August 18th my ear will be irrigated. I've been lying on a heating pad at night for about 30 minutes but it doesn't seem to help. I'm also taking pain reliever which is not helping. Is there ANYTHING I can do to lessen the pain? It pain has brought me to tears twice today. I'm not usually one to complain but this is horrible...

  1. maybe u should go to the doctor

  2. not really try ibuprofen

  3. I always try home remedies at home before I go to the doctor. It is cheaper and sometimes I feel better than taking a bunch of meds... I always use peroxide to get rid of ear wax it eats it up. I just pour some in my ear let it fizzle, and it will.. then I let it drain out.... I also had water in my ear and used it, it did help. after the peroxide drains I dry the ear as much as possible then I put  neosporin in my ear, the amount depends on how bad it is infected If it is infected bad I pack it then put in Cotton. It fights infection and also acts as a lubricant. This really has helped me with numerous ear problems.

  4. I know what you mean, I woke up in the night a couple of years ago from the pain of an ear infection. You could try chewing gum. The motion of your jaw loosens the buildup in your ear.

  5. My gran used to put salt in a wash rag and heat it for 30 seconds and put it over my ear.. the salt and heat draw out the infection.

    Its always worked for me

  6. I am so sorry that is terrible.  I just went through something similar last year and I wanted to shoot myself in the head.  I think you need to call your doctor and tell them that if they don't give you something for the pain you are going to drink yourself into a stupor.  If the antibiotics haven't cleared it up, you definately need to go back to the doctor to ask for pain meds.

  7. Go to the doctor.

  8. lts best to go see a doctor. you may need a antibiotic to kill the infection

  9. hey chelsea first go to ur doctor and tell him to give antibiotic pills as the eardrops are not working cuz maybe the bacteria have developed a resistance to it and if the doctor gives the antibiotic pill take them for the whole time he prescribes it for u and it should be about a week and then nextime when u r swimming try to use ear sealers and for the pain 2 tablets of panadol should do the work but as for profen it is stronger and more effective than panadol however i don't recommend it since it is addictive after a while but should be fine to use for about 2 weeks cheers :P
