I have a basic Sky Subscription costing £17/month. If I cancel can I still continue viewing all the channels?

Will I need to return the sky box, remote and dish?

We've just done this.  It was a hard decision to lose Dave!  You will lose some channels, but, as others have said, you will continue to receive the ones that you would normally get with a freeview box.  You get to keep the dish, box etc.

No of course not or why would they charge you a subscription.

The sky box if you own it you can keep and it will allow you access to freeview digital channels but that is all.

No you don't need to return them. If you cancel your subscription you will get the Free Sat channels, these include some freeview channels (but not all of them), all the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Five channels. You will also get a few extra like Scuzz and the Zone channels. All the special subscription channels will still show up on your box but you won't be able to view them.

no you won't have all the channels if you did wouldn't everyone be cancelling their subscription and depends if you bought your dish etc outright or not whether you would have to give it back

If you've paid for longer than 12 months, you keep the equipment but you won't get Sky 1 or UK Gold and a few others.  The free to view channels are the same as you would get on Freeview - look in your tv book for an idea.

Yes you can still continue watching these channels after cancellation if you go to your mates house and watch it on telly otherwise NO.
