  1. I think It would be best if you just take advice from a doctor. Babies are very sensitive and you can't give them much. When my son was a born I took him to the doctor no matter what. People tried to give me advice and if they were not doctors i did not want to hear it. Don't take chances with your child.

  2. how about put a humidifier in her room (or where she stays most of the day and night).  i found that they helped my son get over colds faster.  even in the humid summer (i live in the SE US), our a/c dries out the air so much that sometimes i have to plug it in for him.

don't worry too much (i know that is hard to do).  i'm sure she'll be fine - and i also know for a FACT that any sickness is harder on you than on her!  breaks a mama's heart to know her baby doesn't feel well...

  3. Just make sure she doesn't have a fever.  There isn't really anything you can do for a baby this young.  If your really worried call the doctor just to make sure.

  4. First, if it makes you feel better, her cry "sounding sore" could just be a more hoarse sounding cry.  Obviously I can't hear it, but one of my girls has a hoarser cry as well, and it's perfectly normal for her.  It certainly doesn't have to indicate a sore throat or illness.

More important, just watch for fever and difficulty breathing.  Very likely with a cold, she might need to be "suctioned" with a nasal aspirator if she is congested because babies breathe only through their nose.  Make sure to have saline drops/spray on hand and suck out her little nose as often as she needs it.  She will likely cry a lot while you do, but it's oh so important to keep their tiny nostrils clear!  If she does have a fever, you can certainly give Tylenol every 6 hours as directed by your doctor.  Be sure not to over-medicate, especially with Tylenol!

Unfortunately, infants get an average of 8-10 colds before their 2nd birthday.  It's sad seeing them so miserable when they're sick, but they come out of them just fine!  Hang in there, and just love on her and try to keep her comfortable if she's truly sick! :)
