I have a big heavyish windsurfing board - will this affect the speed i am going?

i have a big and heavyish windsurfing board and sail etc -

im just curious that I am not going to get any where because the board is heavy?

is this right?

  2. Yeah the heavier the board the slower you will be as it will take more power to get you and the board up out of the water and onto the plane.

    Does weight have an effect on velocity given a standard input of energy?

    Errrr.....oh yeah, it does.

  4. Don't worry about it. It would only have any effect when in the water.

  5. actually, this will depend.

    if the wind is light, then you wont go as fast as other lightweight boards.

    but if the wind is very strong, you may actualy go at a faster speed.

    ...i know this is true for the weight of the person (some skinny people even add heavy weights onto their bodies when theirs strong winds)

    , so i can only assume it works the same if its the rig which adds the weight.
