My brand new gecko just shed ed and he is six months old but is used to being handled because they had an owner before. One of them started to shed the day I got him and it is all gone except his face. We just fed them and he cant eat anything because he can not see. It has been 2 days and his face stuff still has not come off! Should I pull it off? Will it hurt him? How long should it take?

  1. Buy a bottle of shedding aid, go to the vets, or let him soak in warm water =]

  2. Dont pull it off just make it really humid and let him soak in some warm water then if that doesnt work go buy some shedding aid at a pet store

  3. no to all of those questions but lol...i would try force feeding him( u know when u open his mouth and give him something small.)

  4. give him a good heavy misting and then  pull it off. its really no big deal if the problem is just his head .be sure to check his toes. if this shed was bad enough to give him trouble with his face he might have shedding skin stuck on his toes and that IS a problem( he could lose a toe) so check there too  and remove if necessary

  5. Make their cage humid by mist spraying water into it. If it's a screen top, find something that can cover the part of the screen where light fixtures aren't present. This will help trap humidity. Also, go to a local pet store, preferably one that specializes in reptiles, and purchase a bottle of shedding aid. You can ask somebody that works there if they have any suggestions. I HIGHLY DISAPPROVE EASY'S SUGGESTION OF FORCE FEEDING. THIS CAN CAUSE A LOT OF STRESS FOR THE ANIMAL AND IT CAN ULTIMATELY LEAD TO THE DEATH OF YOUR GECKO. DO NOT FORCEFEED IT. I wouldn't soak the gecko in water either, that can ALSO induce stress on the animal. Good luck.

  6. Let him soak in a shallow dish of warm water. This should help to loosen the skin. Very gently try to pull the skin off. If it doesn't come away easily, don't keep pulling. Let him soak for a little longer before trying again.

I would call the previous owner if you can and ask if they had this problem in the past.
