I have a black milk snake was was wondering when to move him into his adult enclouser?

he is currently in a ten gallon tank and is 27 inches long. he is on a diet of fish, mice and other snakes. he is starting his color changing phase and was wondering when do i move him into his adult enclouser. now when he done with his morph or when hes bigger. i dont want to throw him in there and watch him go crazy because hes stressed out. what do i do. also can he eat birds.

  1. I'm not familiar w/ black milks and i know they can have some different care so I wouldn't want to speculate w/ that. I would probably keep a 10 inch honduran in a 10 or 20 gallon cage and when it's around the size of your black milk, i would then move it into a 40 breeder or larger. I would probably think a 10 gallon is a little small for a 27 inch snake, so more than likely it's probably ready for a large enclosure.


  2. You can move him in whenever you want just try to leave him alone for a couple of days to get used to his new home. As for feeding birds i wouldnt do it unless you can get birds for every meal because i have had snakes get used to one thing and they liked it and they would not eat the other food. If you can get them weekly then yes go for it but if not I wouldnt do it
