I have a boat trailer but need a license plate(ontario)?

i want to get a trailer license plate but i dont have the proof of ownership and i asked the last owner and he doesn't either he told me to tell the license office it is a home made trailer.i he right

and if he is how do i know how much my trailer weighs??

  1. That's right just say it's home-made unless it has a ser # on it then just use that number.

    You'll need a bill of sale from the previous owner thought as proof of ownership. Get a bill of sale for around $20 or so to keep down the the taxes.

    To get it weighed just take it to any weigh station up on the Hi-Way they'll do it for nothing or estimate.

    DO NOT USE any serial number!!!

    If there is a number grind it off. Just tell the license office it is home made and dummy up. In fact look them up in the book and phone them.

    I'm not sure you need to worry about how much your trailer weighs...they will usually have some referance.

    Take anything official and "Retail/Manufacturer" looking off the trailer and paint it if needed. You don't want the MTO or OPP looking at your Homemade trailer and finding retail comsummer info and plaques or stickers.
