I have a box of matches but I don't have the thing to scratch it with?

What can I use to get the matches started?

I really need it ....

Go outside and use a magnifying glass, if you have one.

Just focus the rays of the sun on the match head and POOF, you will have some flame!

If they are strike anywhere then a brick wall will work but if strike on box light them with a lighter i guess

Fine-sand paper or that thing for fingernail might do the trick.

If you're at home and has gas stove, use it.

If you're outside and have a couple of rechargeable batteries, some thin metal wire, then use them.  Connect all the batteries together, end to end, positive to negative.  That will leave you with two open end, one positive and one negative.

Wrap part of the wire around the head of the match.  Just a little, one or two round is enough.

Connect the wire between that two open end of the batteries.

Can do that with car battery too.

WARNING!! - The wire will get very hot, and if leave for too long, the batteries might explode.  Do not use you hand or bare skin to touch the wire.  Use something else to hold it.

If they are wooden matches, any stone or brick will ignite it. If you have book matches try fingernail file or other rough surface or hold it over the gas flame or hot coils of an electric stove. Why r u so desperate to light a match...gonna burn the house down ?? lol
